Desktop

Less popular than laptops so people expect you to have the same portability as notebook users.

Desktop computers aren't portable and aren't easy to move.

Many types of desktop are available, can fit for any situation of requirement.

Fits into tight spaces and can go under desks to save space.

The most speed, power, and upgradability for a lower cost.

Prices range from $200 - thousands of dollars, depending on what is needed.

Connects to or includes a monitor to display images.

Personal computer that fits into a workspace.

Mobile

Higher price is not always indicative of higher performance as a few companies have a corner of the market.

Cannot be upgraded in parts.

Cannot do everything that a Notebook or desktop can do.

Most phone-plans include data plans which allow you to stay connected without wi-fi.

Fantastic for almost all forms of communication, from email to video chat.

Extremely portable, can generally be carried everywhere.

Most common mobile computer is the smartphone.

Portable, handheld, and personal computers that can be used for business or entertainment.

Notebook

Disadvantages

Some lower end "sub-notebooks" are incapable of running desktop applications and are much worse than desktop computers for getting work done.

You must upgrade the whole machine and cannot upgrade only specific parts or aspects.

Much more expensive than a desktop for the same performance.

Advantages

Convertible notebooks can be used for creative purposes, with a touch screen.

Can do anything a desktop can, although at a higher cost.

More portable than desktops.

Characteristics

Built-in screens and webcams.

Notebooks are personal computers that are lightweight and portable.
