Signifiers, Not Affordance

Signifier

It's an indicator which can be interpreted meaningfully.
Social signifiers
They are those that are relevant to social usages. Signifying social activity or appropriate social behavior

It is really important in the society, people are always looking for clues (signifiers), so we must try to facilitate with these ones.

Deliverated: When the signifier is placed on purpose to express a specific message.

Incidental: When the signifier expresses something that was not necessarily meant to be conveyed

Times and technologies have changed.

Affordance

We must provide signifiers, not affordances.
It's used to refer to a relationship: the actions possible by a specific agent on a specific environment.

We should pay attention to our design principles. We need new priniciples.
