Indoctrination

The promise of economic recovery and more living space was made to appeal to the people of Germany.
Offered citizens free meals and companionship during the Great Depression to gain popularity with the people
New laws were made to suggests that the good of the state is more important than a citizen's rights

Extreme Nationalism

Established an "ingroup" (us) and an "Outgroup"(them)
Blamed Jews for Economical issues
Believed in a master race (Aryan), Preferably including people with blue eyes and blonde hair.
Hitler
Revolted against the Weimar Republic and tried to lead a revolt. He was thrown in Jail for it
Wrote the "Mein Kampf" (My Struggle) while he was in prison

Censorship & Propaganda

The Hitler Youth program
Tried to force Protestant churches to deliver "Pro-Nazi" sermons
Book Burnings that burned up books with opposing views/ ideologies against the Nazi party
Joseph Geobbels, led a radio that played Military music and speeches that glorified the Nazi party

Limited Human Rights

Strikes and outlawed unions were banned
Jews are banned from teaching in Universities, and all government jobs. (1933)
Forced most of Roman Catholic schools to close, to push youth into Government Controlled public schools.
The Nazi Party controlled the citizens' press and religion

Legalized Police Terror To Eliminate Opposition

Nazis rounded up and murdered hundred of political enemies
"Gestapo" Secret police that murdered those who opposed the Nazi parties
Growth of Nazi Power
Great Depression strengthened the Nazi party with increasing unemployment rates.
Started with 6,000 people in 1921, grew to 50,000 people by 1923.
