Even with the Covid-19 situation that affected the whole world, we did not give up on satisfying our user’s needs. Furthermore, we helped them as much as we could, offering them the resources they needed to get through this period.
With the help of our application, many companies, including us, efficiently organized their activity when working remotely.
The Mindomo team managed to adapt very easily to changes. Even though we worked from home, we were more united than ever and managed to communicate effectively.
At the same time, we contributed to improving the educational process, which suffered during this period, when everything moved in the online environment.
We did our best and had many achievements in 2020: new features, templates, videos, and articles.
Features implemented in 2020
1. New version for Android
We have redesigned the Android app interface to be more user-friendly and more similar to the web version. Now, when you use the app you can see:
- A new structure
- Option to choose from “Device or Cloud” mind maps
- Undo and Redo buttons
- The insert panel (“+”)
- The style icon (“the roller”)
- The options menu (three dots)
- Templates with redefined layouts
- Colorful themes
- Multiple colors palette
- More icons
- More layouts and topic shapes
When you open the app you will see the “+” button. You have 3 options:
- Create a New map
- Choose a Template
- Create a New Folder.
You can edit mind maps saved on your phone or from the Cloud in this way:
- Click on the menu.
- Select “Device” to see the maps saved on your phone.
- Select “Cloud” and log in to your account and choose the mind map you want to edit.
We have added two new buttons on the bottom right side:

- Add sibling topic – Add a topic at the same level as the selected one.
You can create mind maps, concept maps, or tree organigrams with different themes. Also, you can choose to use templates for personal life, work, or education.
2. New icons library
Firstly, we have created a new icons library where we updated and increased the size of icons and added lots of new ones.
Secondly, we updated and added categories for the icon panel.
Furthermore, we offered you access to emojis from the topic context menu.
3. Advanced theme editor functionality
We have added new options for the theme editor.
We have updated our theme editor functionality so that you are allowed to customize extra topic styles. Furthermore, we added options to clone the current theme.
Also, now you can benefit from the colorful new themes we have added.
4. Redesigned the dialog for creating new maps
We redesigned the dialog for creating a mind map and now you have the option to choose a theme for the new map.
5. Redesigned outline
We have redesigned the outline. Now, every outline you create will have a white background on the whole screen. Moreover, the collapse and expansion of the topics buttons have changed from “+” and” -” to triangles.
The lines help you distinguish the level of the hierarchy. You can see the number of topics next to the parent topic.
Furthermore, now you can Zoom in and out your outline.
6. New connection style
To change the connection style, click on the context menu (white triangle on the top-right corner of the topic). Then click on the connecting lines panel and choose the one you like.
7. New topic shapes
We have redesigned the shapes and boundary tab on the topic context menu.
8. Line format options
Now you can change the aspects of your line formats to tapered, solid, dotted, dashed, triple and arrow.
Click on the context menu and select the connection panel. Click on the last icon. Above the “Auto Align” option you’ll find the line formats.
9. Added recurrent tasks
Recurring tasks happen regularly: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or only on specific days of the week.
A regular due task can happen on a single day, or several days, having a deadline. Unlike this task, a recurring task repeats itself every selected day.
Your colleagues will receive an email notification when you assign them a recurring task.
Read this blog post to learn everything you need to know about recurring tasks on Mindomo.
10. New export formats
We have added functionality to export the topic description to Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) format.
