The Force Field Analysis tool was developed by Kurt Lewin. This Force Field analysis template will help you to evaluate the factors in a decision.

Type in the decision that you are making and the negative forces and positive forces that act on your decision or proposal.

Then, you need to review and compare the forces you have added to the template. You can add scores on each side of the map using our icons gallery.

Add up the scores on each side of the map. Which side has the higher score? If the decision is not clear, then:

  • What further information would help?
  • What can you do to strengthen or increase the positive forces?
  • What can you do to weaken or reduce the negative forces?
