Goal Setting Mind Map Templates

Set and achieve your goals using one of the goal-setting mind map templates. Use a template to plan this year's resolutions, SMART goals, or personal achievements.

Why written goals behave differently from intended ones

A goal held in your head stays conveniently vague, and vagueness is what makes it easy to abandon without noticing. Writing one down as a structure forces the specifics — what counts as done, by when, measured how — and those specifics are the whole mechanism.

The SMART Goals template is the standard starting point: five criteria, applied one branch at a time, and a goal that fails any of them visibly fails rather than quietly. Setting SMART objectives takes the same discipline into a team setting, where the extra difficulty is making objectives that do not quietly conflict with each other.

For something less formal, the New Year’s Resolution template and the general Goal Setting template keep the structure and drop the acronym.

Goals are worth revisiting rather than filing, so these maps are built to be edited on a schedule — the honest question at a review is usually not whether you are behind but whether the goal is still the right one.

Goals that survive contact with a calendar need the next step: prioritising tasks decides what gets done this week, and planning and organising with mind maps covers the habit rather than the template.
